Lake Worth (FL) City votes to hire sheriff

Sometime in the near future the Lake Worth PD talk-groups will go silent as the users will have their radios re-programmed to become part of the PBSO compliment. It is unclear as to what district talk-group will support Lake Worth or if they will remain on their own.


LAKE WORTH — Though the action probably will bring a tax increase for residents, commissioners decided Monday that safety is what matters first as they voted to merge the city's police department with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

City needs to SIGN THE CONTRACT on the 25th to be official, though everyone wants it to happen.
A couple Commissioners are concerned of losing THEIR control over the PD for what ever reason. Hummmm

The vote is tonight and the concern was that taxes will go up. They will and no matter what they will not go down.

There are somewithin the agency who are trying to throw monkey wrenches into the project.

It's a 10 year contract.

The City of Lake Worth has approved the merger and the offical date of the takeover is Nov. 1, 08.

They will be come a district for the Palm Beach Co. Sheriff. What tg.s they will use we don't know yet.
Dispatching will move from Lake Worth to PBSO Hq.
