Lakeside Fire and Marblehead Fire are no more starting July 1.

DANBURY TOWNSHIP — On March 13, a century-plus history of contracting with Marblehead Volunteer Fire Department and the Lakeside Volunteer Fire Protective Association came to momentous consolidation with the formation of The Danbury Township Fire Department.

It's about time. For many years, they ran a lot of calls simultaneously. This merger should be much more efficient while continuing to provide good service to the community.

Lets see if they will continue to use the same unit numbers on the Ottawa County TRS (500 units Marblehead, 1100 units Lakeside), or some other scheme. Should be interesting to watch when the merger is complete in a few months.
