LAKEWOOD - Police suspect a driver was drinking Sunday when he slammed into another vehicle, killing an elderly woman.

Lakewood Police say the driver was going north on South Sheridan Boulevard around 12:25 p.m., weaving in and out of traffic. When the driver came up to West Mexico Avenue, he went into oncoming traffic and slammed into a station wagon driven by an elderly woman.
The victim, whose name was not immediately released, was taken to Denver Health Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
The driver, whose name has also not been released, was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide. According to Lakewood Police, the suspect is suspected of drinking and driving.
