Lakewood, Wheatridge, Denver, Arvada/Westy, Aurora and DTRS

I'm sure it's been asked before, but ....

Do these agencies ever plan on joining the DTRS? I know that they have all spent millions on their existing 2-3 year old systems, but isn't the point of DTRS to have all these agencies on the same system?

Unless I'm mistaken, Denver doesn't have any plans to go this route - see the following RR threads for some of the reasons why... Denver Trunk System, Denver ESK in the future ??

Wheatridge was going to go on Denver's system but last I heard they might go on Lakewoods system.

I myself think it is smart to keep a separate system, because if something ever wacked out the DTRS infrastructure, (not likely though) the metro area might be able to not be affected.

At the last scanner meeting we had, Mark (RF-Intel) had some insight on this, it was nice to hear from someone who knew what they were talking about. I have heard that Denver, wanted to network their Edacs system with all the other metro area Edacs systems - will be interesting to see this actually happen !

Yeah, I'm familiar with Stargate on the Arvada and Aurora systems, although I don't think I've heard Stargate on the Denver, Lakewood or Wheatridge systems. (Maybe Denver, can't remember)

Wasn't the whole point of this interoperability to integrate communications for situations like Columbine? Nothing has really changed since then, in terms of intercommunication. Granted, JeffCo and Littleton are on the DTRS, but Lakewood and Denver are still on their own systems. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the implementation? (In the case of Columbine)

Please tell me if I'm being ignorant, I'm still learning.

I would say you're right, but until that happens, the metro area agencies will have to rely on CLEER and the I-TAC channels such as the case when Littleton PD initiated a traffic stop and it turned into a metro area chase, they were communicating via the CLEER channel to communicate with Denver, Arapahoe County, Englewood, State Patrol, and Aurora. The dispatchers have to patch channels together in order for the individual officers to communicate and yeah alot can happen while the patching is taking place - but this is what they have to work with for now.

CLEER is the same, in my opinion, as it has been for the last 2 decades, so I'm used to that type of monitoring.
I'm partially just pissed off because I can hear freakin' DCSO and ACSO clear as a bell on the DTRS system, but can't hear Denver for crap. I work downtown, so I hear Denver during the day, just not from home. If I squelch it, I can get some traffic, but not much of anything except District 4 and some District 6. But it's sporadic. And as I've mentioned in previous posts, my HOA prohibits any external posting of antennas.

Jim had mentioned that Denver's repeaters are in Morrison, and I'm on Green Mountain, so that's probably why. But damn, wouldn't it be nice to hear ALL agencies as clearly as those on the DTRS?
