A severe thunderstorm went through Lamar County this morning and knocked out the Lamar County TRS . Trees and Power lines down all over the county. The same in Hattiesburg and Forrest County. Hattiesburg / Forrest County TRS still working but having problems.

MHP Troop J in Hattiesburg struck by lightening, all communications are down. Using Hattiesburg as backup.

Phone lines are out at Pearl River Valley EPA and also at Forrest County VFD Dispatch

A lil later,... we got our turn.... I wish I had had a camcorder when the stuff rolled over my house,.. textbook wall cloud with the rotation and beginnings of a funnel cloud went right over my roof, along with heavy rain, small hail, 45 mph wind gusts... Luckily it did not touch down or cause any damage.. though all around we had trees down, and some mior flooding from the heavy rain,... Right now with the ground so wet, all it will take is a good gust to flip a tree right on over. In the surrounding counties of Adams, Lincoln, Copiah, and Franklin, there is magor tree downage, even a few on houses.

Another batch of storms is heading my way. Power crews still working on power lines. One power company worker was electrocuted and fell out of his bucket. He was still alive when the ambulance took him to the hospital.

MHP is using CIB and MBN repeaters in Hattiesburg.
