From my location in Dauphin County, I doubt I'd be able to receive any tower further South and East than Manheim, E-town, Litiz, etc. So hopefully they put a tower near E-town and it simulcasts everything!

There is a tower in Etown. There has to be considering the topography - Etown area sits in a bowl. Some places are awful now, and hopefully that will improve drastically.

Haven't heard anything about simulcasting.

So what exactly does this mean?

https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsEntry/...tachmentKey=19301687&attachmentInd=applAttach

"The current schedule for the system implementation is as follows:

Task Scheduled Completion
Preliminary Design November, 2012 - Complete
Proof of Concept Testing March, 2013 - Complete
Notice to Proceed March, 2013 - Complete
Final Design September, 2013 - Complete
Equipment Procurement October, 2013 - Complete
Equipment Staging and Testing April, 2014 – In progress
Site Construction and Preparation June, 2014 – In progress Radio System Installation July 2014
Coverage and Operational Testing September, 2014
Commencement of Operation November, 2014
6-Month Contingency May, 2015

All base stations are scheduled to be constructed and placed into operation during 2014, however
additional site work has been determined to be required which may result in some delays while
this work is conducted. As such, an additional 6-month contingency period is included in this
request for extension."

They running behind?

Can a mod change the title of this thread to Lancaster County-Wide P25 or something similar to better identify the new main purpose of the postings?

There may not be for a few weeks yet. Just heard today that the nearly all the tower work is complete - one left to build and a couple of others to tweak. Some of the towers are on the air - thus the CC.

Equipment installs are still ongoing. Last word is that public works/county non-public safety will be on the system first to test. That should be relatively soon.

I now live close to the Ephrata Mtn site. Signal strength with a small, temporary antenna in a basement window to the BCD996XT is 5/5.

Control channel is on 477.85 with SID 0D66h-0102

Is the Lancaster test site still on the air? I drove out the turnpike to the Harrisburg area today and the Ephrata site was showing RFSS 001 and Site 001 which would be the same as the Lancaster site already listed. Looks like you're showing that you saw RFSS 001 and SIte 002? I'm not sure how the BCD996XT display breaks down.

I haven't picked up anything on the "Lancaster" test site. Perhaps it has been superseded by the site designated Lancaster City GREI in the FCC DB, but I haven't picked up any activity there yet with the PSR800.

I have caught radio techs testing the system off the Columbia site, with audio of good to very good quality even though Columbia is largely on the other side of the county from me. One tester officially identified as "radio maintenance". Only one unit ID has shown up, 1015; the PSR800 did not register unit ID's on the other stations.

Somebody may need to start visiting the tower sites to pin down what's what...unless something more official can be shaken loose from somewhere.

Good find for Mt. Joy. Does the 436 have the means to display site ID information? I don't have one so I'm not familiar with all of its capabilities.

I honestly don't know, lol. I'm just getting used to programming it with the sentinel software. I will try any suggestions or tips to get any info your looking for.

I just heard a radio test from the Ephrata Mountain Site on TG 100. No signal strength on the meter but it was loud and clear.

I was working at my employer's northwest Lancaster site yesterday. On a whim I ran a search while mobile and found that there was voice testing on 476.6875, P25 NAC 293. Pre-recorded messages were being played repeatedly, consisting of male and female voices saying various phrases. I suspect this has to do with system calibration. Delaware did something similar when they were setting up their 700 MHz TRS.

I heard some testing this afternoon on TG 100 from Mount Joy site. I also picked up TG 102 on Mount Joy and Ephrata sites. I also noticed that Mount Joy, E-Town, Marietta, Manheim, Lititiz, and Cornwall all have the same 7 freq. listed for each tower site.

ARC-XT Pro has recorded the following unit ID's, mostly on talkgroup 100: 001, 700, 1001, 1005, 1032, 1037, 1051, 1056, 1057, 2221, and 6691105

I heard the same testing just after midnight today, and it is still playing the messages right now. I listened for a little while. My bcd436 seemed like it picked up better than my pro106.

I also heard most of those ID's on TG 102 as well as 100.

I haven't picked up any talk groups with the pre-recorded phrases being broadcast. No idea if this is a temporary setup for range and voice quality testing in general, or if this frequency will end up being used as a dedicated non-trunked repeater and/or simplex voice frequency.
