The problem is with the portables. You may not be hear the reply because its a portable. The balance of the county and Fire/EMS is waiting until all the bugs are resolved. To many dead spots as it is now.

I don't think it's an issue because it's a portable. They pick up pretty far on the new system. Someone was talking the other night down in the buck area they said.

Yeah I got all of these. I am just curious if the person at the prison was either on the wrong talk group, or they have encryption issues. Because some of the things didn't sound like transportation or facilities management.

Also without going into too much detail, I keep turning on a programmed radio to see if the EMS/Fire is close to being activated. Notta. I can see what tower it grabs from and then nothing.

It'll be really nice when everyone moves over.

I'm still slowly putting a list together of ID's.

I know before I was logging but there wasn't a good idea on how they were numbered. Until I got the information and uploaded it to the wiki about how their doing the ID numbering. And then got the rest of the information to update the database for the TG's.

With the ID's it's kind of difficult because you have to be there when their talking to know if it's a mobile or a portal.

Atleast for Fire/EMS it'll be pretty easy to figure out "this ID belong to this rig, and these are the portables".

So a letter went out today.

The issues have been fixed. The rest of the police will begin moving over March 2nd through April 13th.

One or two agencies in the FIRE/EMS group will be put on the system in March to test it out for the move over for fire/EMS.

They are giving fire/EMS radios access starting March 9th for training.

Yeah on northeast they had issues the other day too.

Looks like PD South is over.

It was rebroadcasted/simulcasted onto the new system before and shows ID of 256 when people are talking.
Currently everyone talking on south has their own radio ID's. So I guess that leaves Metro and City 1 and City 2 to go yet.

What units normally operated on Channel A do you know? I can go through my logs and find out if any of them were on NW or NE.

Also, I was getting a few hits on P24 Private, which should be encrypted. I didn't get any audio, it stopped on the channel a few times.

Also, I know there was a post awhile ago about a typo on LCWC's website about any scanner that does P25 Phase II is good to use on the system.

I noticed something new tonight.

It says:
"LCWC's P25 trunked radio system can be monitored by any scanner that is APCO P25 Phase 2 capable." Doesn't seem to be a typo. However maybe they say that so it's easier for people to figure it out (If it does phase 2, it'll do phase 1).

What that link it shows what channels have moved over to the new system, it hasn't been updated yet to show PD South on it though.

As for the Phase II wording, there is only 2, possibly 3 scanners in current production that can monitor Phase II communications, and Uniden just announced theirs not too long ago. Any Phase I scanner can monitor LCWC.

I havent been on the forum for a long time. I recently got involved in the commercial/public safety radio business so I have a renewed interest in monitoring. I got the word yesterday as it seems you have also that pretty much all of the comms will be going to the new system this month.

So I guess I need to buy a new scanner. Radio Shack has been pushing a handheld Phase 1 scanner for about $350. Seems like a decent radio for a fair price.

Am I allowed to ask for recommendations in this forum? I dont really want to spend the money for a PH2 scanner.
Also I have been a ham for almost 40 years so if anyone needs any help on that end, I'm happy to help.

I have a Uniden 996xt. I like it alot and use freescan to program it.

Two of my friends have a radioshack pro 651 and I think the audio sounds better. But I like the display on the 996xt.

So what's the deal with PD South? There is not alot of chatter at all.

Logging for about two and a half hours or less now and 300 entries, only 6 of them are South units.

I logged for about 12 hours overnight, forgetting to unlock PD South. I did however get a hit on PD Metro (TGID 3004) by a NW PD unit *6134213. Also got 3 hits this morning on PSTC 2 (TGID 1101) by *6504932 and i706)

I also noticed some hits on the conventional channels that logged RID/UID's with them? I'll keep logging throughout the day while I am asleep and see what I get. I unlocked NE and South, along with all Municipal TG's. Pending weather, let's see what we get.

Yeah the other night on PSTC there was a lady talking about folding something into a triangle and explaining how to do it. That was odd.

Metro I got one log off of it awhile ago, but back in December I got City 1 and City 2 and logged like 20 some 42 (Lanc City Police ID's). They were doing testing.

I figure tomorrow i'll leave it on all day and find out what it gets.

Last night it seemed like it was the same 6 units talking on the South TG same ID's multiple times, and I know they have more than that on.

So no Metro channels active today. I guess no police moved over today.

The prison channels have been very active, more hits in two hours then anytime since November in one day of logging.

New hits of interest:
I6241911 Logged on talk group 2253 for FD 41 Private.

I6290840 on TG 2002 FIRE/EMS OPS 2.

The letter that went out to the county Chiefs a couple of weeks ago said they were going to put a few Fire/EMS units on the system starting today to do some preliminary testing in preparation to move the Fire/EMS sector over.

Also starting this week, they were opening up the system to the other Fire/EMS units so they can being training on the system when they receive their programmed radios.

That's really odd. I've had freescan up since 7am and have logged over 2,000 things just on the digital system alone.

I'm picking up all the sites too.
