City police is on the new system.

Both City 1 and 2?

I did the new firmware for my 536 and it sounds decently better then it did before. I don't know if it's just me but I also think the audio it streams to the siren app is crystal clear. I just wish I could use the siren app from an outside connection.

Once fire/ems fully moves over I'll most likely do a feed for it online.

Although I'm not sure I imagine if city moved channel 1 they'd also move channel 2. I can't imagine they'd half switch.

Thanks to everyone for giving such detailed info as this project has evolved over the years. I have read thru all the pages and it was interesting to see where we were and where we are today.

With all the changes, can someone give a quick summary of what they are able to hear and what is encrypted? Just a simple reply would be great. Just interested in what people are hearing vs what is not available to be heard.

Again thanks to everyone out there that has been reporting in on this...

If you look at the pdf that I attached I believe the talk groups highlighted in green in encrypted.

I got my 536 and started scanning and for a moment was very disappointed...I was hearing nothing! Fear not, the database on the radio was form 2013. I updated the Database and firmware and Rock & Roll! Sound is great. I trimmed down the scanned set using the favorites it is seems to scan pretty quick. Occasionally i will miss the first split second of a transmission, but other than that, I am loving it. I even got the Siren app working without any issue. There are a lot of features on the 536, so i am still learning.

Thanks again for all the info!

I have logs for days, of ID's on TG's.

I'm comparing ID's that repeat. EMS (the ones that are on it) are all using portables. The ID's are almost never the same for the units. So no use logging them. I assume when everyone installs mobiles (Whenever that is), it'll be easier for logging.

Also, I ordered an external drive for my old computer. I will be putting up the new Fire/EMS digital system online.

It's going to suck having the three zones, and then OPS. for major incidents I am not sure how I will manage it.

What does everything thing? Major incident stop and lock on the TG? or scan like normal?

The scanner that is running the feed is a PRO-2096, which I picked up for $115.00 brand new back in 2010 when they were on clearance for that particular model. Gotta say in hind sight I should have kept at the house, but I'm doing ok with my dongles....

The feed is currently scanning all talkgroups, and in the future might change if we get a couple of P25 commercial radios. It is located on top of Cornwall Mountain at our local amateur radio club (Lancaster Radio Transmitting Society - W3AD Lancaster, PA USA - Home)

Which feed are you talk about? If your comment was towards me I was discussing the feed I'm about to put up this weekend.

Or are you referring to the current low band fire/ems feed already listed online? Are there any plans for that feed to go digital within like the next two days? If so I could do half the county. But the way the system is I can pick up everything.

Did you have to mod anything in your 2096 with the software to get it to scan this? I have a 2096 but haven't programmed this system yet.

South Simulcast

I get in the southern part of the county from time to time and it seems like when I'm on the South Simulcast site I'm not picking up any of the police talk groups except South. I decided to take a trip south this afternoon to see if it was just coincidence or not. When I was on 272 around Willow Street I was picking up a lot of chatter especially city police. When I was close to Smithville I noticed things had gone quiet. I looked at the scanner and it was on South Simulcast. I drove to Scotland Rd and back and didn't pick up any police talk groups other than South (3001). When I was on my way back to Lancaster I picked up the police northwest when I was in Truce but when I looked at the scanner it was on Central Simulcast.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

That's odd.

I was sitting near HIA the other night with my 436 and I was getting Northwest pretty clear, and South was just ok. I haven't gone to the southern end of the county.

If there are a lot more towers around the county, why doesn't every one of them have the system loaded?

It's not a problem picking up the South talk group, it's picking up police other than south when I'm in the southern part of the county where the site I'm receiving is the South Simulcast site. Friday morning I was in Quarryville when I was experiencing this and when I came to Mt Joy later in the day I was on the Northwest site and picking up all of the main talk groups fine.

Maybe that tower doesn't have all the talk groups on it?
