So for a good chunk of the day I had an actual radio to compare some of the stuff to my feed. Some radios sound terrible even with listening with a radio...Soooo not sure what that is about.

I adjusted the audio on the feed a bit to help it out so it doesn't sound washed out.

During my time here in Lancaster I have been doing some searching...

I located what sounds like an analog simulcast of one of the PD talkgroups on 464.8750 D754. Audio sounds like P25 ported over to analog. I saw in the database this is listed as Heart of Lancaster but with a 114.8 PL.

It has been said that P25 swichover was/is taking place today. Can anyone confirm this? And if that's the case, what time did they announce it?

The switch over took place at 0800 this morning. It was announced via email through the County Chief Association about 2 weeks ago.

Okay Thank You Sir!

They also announced it on every low band channel too at 0800. Had to switch radios in the middle of it haha.

One thing I am noticing is some radios do indeed sound horrible. I thought maybe my 996xt for the feed was alittle odd. But county sounds crystal clear while some users sound too loud and distorted. So I sat with a radio for awhile and compared and those same people sounded distorted with an actual radio too.

I have noticed that as well.

  • Could it be the type and make of radio or site that is attributing to the distortion?
  • Tait vs. Relm vs. Motorola?
  • Portable vs. mobile?
  • Central vs. NW vs. NE vs. South?
Just a thought...

I know what you mean. I had a radio earlier and a medic in the city sounded distorted and county had to ask them to repeat. Then on the feed they sounded loud and distorted. Not sure what radio they were using but I assume they were connecting to the central tower.

Haha!Yeah I've noticed that too! Not dissing your feed in any way because I've heard worse! But when some units talk, I hear a buzzing distortion on some transmissions, usually near the end. Is that a actual radio issue as well?
