I'd been hearing, and have seen it listed on RR's database, that this is a tri-county wide fire mutual aide channel. This morning I heard what I'm 99% sure is inversion scrambling on that channel. Perhaps it was a little trop-ducting, I heard it on the desktop scanner I use, which doesnt use or decipher PL tones.

460.575 is the frequency in question..

I heard some junk on it a while ago too, as far as I know this isn't going to be used til Ingham Co deploys their new system.

Tri County Fire Mutual AId Freq

the frequency 460.575 is used by Delta Twp. Fire Department. the Mutual Aid frequency will be. 453.750.

Im sure within a month or so, all stations in the Tri County area will be switching to that frequency. Our station (ERTFD) will most likely loose the two VHF radios we have, and be programming additional channels on all our radios.

Looking back, and a little less weary, I believe I meant the 453. frequency too. And, after hearing the rest of the UHF public service band this morning, I'm sure it was some ducting happening. Was hearing funny stuff from all over. My mobile rig will do PL's and such, but I usually run the receive open unless I'm having issues.
This came in handy the day Survival flight couldnt contact an ambulance on the ground because of not using a PL tone. Wasnt an easy fix, but at least we knew what was going on.

Tri County M.A. Freq

I noticed that with AIr Care clearing to our units. But in this case, they were simplex (direct) on 460.625, and we were on the repeater. Either one of two things should be done. (of course us Hams know this better than P.S. Officials) we should ALWAYS assume there is a PL. They should contact Dispatch and figure it out, or our radios should be switched to "monitor" .
