LAPD in pursuit of a code 37 vehicle on freq 507.2375[77th Div. freq.] I caught this already in progress at 0315 and seems as if it has been going on for a little while now. Several PIT attempts but not successful due to the fact that the suspect speeds up everytime a PIT is attempted. 0327- spike strips are requested and being set up, as this suspect has been driving prety much in the same area(Crenshaw, Adams, Jefferson, 10th ave. area.....)
0334-primary unit has flat and advises another unit to take over..
0338-suspect took footbail at Jefferson and 10th Ave., quick apprehension by officers.

As a reminder: Most of us probably have no clue what a "code 37 vehicle" is. Using plain english is much more helpful.

My apologies, the term code 37 refers to anything stolen, in this case, it was a vehicle.

Eh, no problem, it's easy to do. Actually, I suppose the best thing to do might be to do something like "code 37 (stolen) vehicle", that way, folks can learn what the various agency codes are.

Here they use "10-32 Victor"

Thanks for sharing the audio of the pursuit by the way.

..my pleasure..

Correct me if I am wrong, I believe LASO uses 10-29 victor as their designation for a stolen vehicle/plates.

We have a winner....

..Lets not forget about awesome coverage, I can hear the south bureau tacs including 77th, SoEast,Harbor, and among a few others really well in Oceanside, once I pass Pendelton, that's it.

Actually no; "Code 37" is used only for a stolen vehicle. Anything else that's stolen is simply "stolen."

At http://lapdonline.org/lapd_manual/volume_4.htm way down deep in §120.40 RADIO CODES AND PROCEDURES is

"Code Thirty‑Seven. Communications Division Radio Telephone Operators running want/warrant information for field personnel shall broadcast a "Code Thirty‑Seven" when stolen vehicle information is returned on vehicle license numbers. Field personnel shall employ appropriate defensive tactics and/or report pertinent information such as location, direction of travel, vehicle description, until control is assured.

When the suspect(s) are under the complete control of SWORN PERSONNEL or additional assistance is not required, field employees shall broadcast a "Code Four" in response to a "Code Thirty‑Seven."

That emphasis on "sworn personnel" was added after a few incidents of non-sworn City DOT Parking Control Officers getting themselves into jams with auto-theft suspects.

Don't forget the Citywide Tacs either. Unlike the Bureau Tacs (and divisional enhanced/fallback - aka "simplex" frequencies, though they aren't necessarily simplex), the seven Citywide Tacs use synchronized simulcast from multiple transmitter sites.
