LAPD Ch. 20

While looking through various web pages of old and "updated" LA area police freqs, I noticed on some of the older web pages listing an LAPD freq of 484.9000 as a "telephone patch". Just recently I decided to program it into my 96 and no sooner than I entered it, I heard the airship refer to the channel as channel 20. I have heard this twice today in fact. Anyone know the actual functionality of this channel?, or is it just another Air/K9 type of channel?

In addition to other uses, 484.900 is sometimes patched to the 484.7125 "hailing" frequency, as are 484.350 and 484.400 to provide better coverage to different areas of the city. Other air unit "chat" frequencies are Ch69, 506.8625 and Ch49, 506.5875.
