Hey,

I was unable to find anything online/in LAPD manual about their K-9 radio designations. Does anyone know anything about that? Perhaps the designation and format?

Also "3DK9" units being LAX bomb detection dogs which you may hear on LAPD frequencies on occasion

Thanks a lot guys. Any idea why some of their K9 cars have 41 on the back?

Many LAPD marked units have their division number on the back. For instance, Van Nuys (a geographic division) units have "09", Foothill units have "16". The "41" looks like a non-geographic division identifier.

"41" comes from Metro's patch/insignia for the location of the first true SWAT deployment in 1969 (serving warrants at the Black Panther Headquarters, at 41st and Central Streets).
