Hello, sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this so here goes. Can anyone please tell me why did people stop broadcasting LAPD audio on most of the web sites. Was there a law passed or what. Most sites I visited showed a link and when I click to it, said page not found. Thanks, Amos

The "citywide" feed (mostly Central & South Bureaus, plus citywide "hotshots/hailing") is using a BC785 which unfortunately is in a VERY noisy RF location. The Valley Bureau feed is a 796D. LACoFD/Verdugo fire uses a BC780, as do the LASD and CHP feeds. All are locally and/or remotely controlled by Channel Admins, who will pause the scanners on "hot" incidents if they are monitoring at the time. Otherwise they're all in scan mode.

Nope, no new laws. I think what happened is the price of digital-capable scanners is so relatively high that not many folks want to fork over $500 and then leave it plugged into their computers.

OTOH, like almost all electronics, considering inflation, the real-dollar price of digital scanners isn't really much higher than the early programmable analog, 10- or 20-channel models we were paying $200+ for back in the 1970s.

A private com feeds from LAPD?
Not quite sure what you're asking, but a group of us provides feeds LAPD and other Calif agencies via both the Teamspeak "interactive" app thru http://www.scannerbuff.net/ and directly via www.publicsafetyfeeds.com

We try to be online as much as we can and remotely control the receivers to lock in on "hot" incidents, pursuits, etc. Have access to almost ALL PD/FDs in Southern California, and some from other areas, too.

I think he meant, "Icalls"...
ANd to answer that it depends on wwhatever setting that scanner has and if the user/owner has set them....
Crista

PS
I have ICALL on my BCD396T
and PD hasn't used then since I'v been monitoring
they use their NExtels for Sensitive and truely personal matters...

MMKay that makes sense!!!
Yeah I live In San Francisco and interference even on their radios can be a pain...
It seems constantly that dispatch is having to ask their officesr to repeat last..
LOL
Thanks for the explanations..
Warmest regards,

Neither LAPD, LASD, LAFD, LACoFD nor CHP is trunked, so none use I-CALL. The relatively few trunked public safety systems in the area are usually too busy to hold up the scanning for I-CALL traffic, since they tend to stream the "routine emergencies."

That's just my take on it, as I'm not involved with running/controlling the feeds. Did enough dispatching in the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 0-ty's.
