Investigating Sunday's homicide

By Boomerang Staff

The Albany County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 34–year-old man Sunday night.

According to a press release from the Albany County Sheriff’s Office, at about 6:45 p.m. Sunday the sheriff’s office received a report of a deceased male subject inside his trailer home at 782 Wyoming Highway 230, seven miles west of Laramie. Deputies located the man, later identified as Carlos Guzman-Luna, a 34-year-old man living in Laramie but originally from Mexico. According to the release, Guzman-Luna was “deceased from multiple gunshot wounds.”

A full forensic autopsy was completed in Loveland, Colo., Monday afternoon, according to Albany County Coroner Tom Furgeson. Lt. Mike Garcia from the Albany County Sheriff’s Office said it may be a few weeks before the final autopsy report is complete.

The preliminary investigation by the Albany County Sheriff’s Office has revealed that Guzman-Luna was in an altercation with another subject about 5 a.m. Sunday.

The sheriff’s office is looking for Jose Rodriguez-Hernandez, a 27-year-old Mexican national, for information he may have regarding the death of Guzman-Luna.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Rodriguez-Hernandez is asked to contact dispatch at 721-2526.

The investigation is continuing, and more information will be released as the case develops.

For whatever reason, there was quite a bit of activity that night. This particular incident was taking most of the SO away, and there was also a guy that died in the Northern part of town which required a fair amount of investigation for some reason or other. Of course, the damn Boomerang won't be bothered to carry that story, as it might require them to actually get off their butts and be journalists.

Arrest made in Laramie murder

By Boomerang Staff

A Mexican National wanted for questioning in the death of a 34-year-old man shot Feb. 10 in Laramie was arrested by the Fort Collins (Colo.) Police Department over the weekend.

Jose Rodriguez-Hernandez, a 27-year-old male from Mexico, was arrested Sunday, according to a press release by Albany County Sheriff’s Lt. Michael Garcia. He was wanted for questioning in the murder of Carlos Guzman-Luna, a 34-year-old Mexican National. Guzman-Luna’s body was found with multiple gunshot wounds at 6:45 p.m. Feb. 10 at his home at 782 Highway 230.

Hernandez was wanted out of Cheyenne for kidnapping. The kidnapping charge was a result of Hernandez forcing a subject at gunpoint to drive him from Cheyenne to Fort Collins after the murder in Laramie, according to the release.

With tips from the public and other sources, Hernandez was tracked to Fort Collins, where he was sought after by the Fort Collins Police Department and eventually arrested. Deputies from the Albany County Sheriff’s Office immediately drove to Fort Collins where Hernandez was interviewed in regards to Luna’s death.

After further review of the evidence, the Albany County Attorneys Office will file appropriate charges, Garcia said in the release.
