took a day trip to Laredo to visit some relatives and brought the 296 with me...
not enough time to really do any RF investigation, but i DID determine that the "800 Mhz Trunked System" that was supposedly in use by PUblic Safety IS NOT.
all frequencies were dead.
what did show up was an 800 Mhz trunk for business, possibly a forwarding agency, but the frequencies in use were not even close to what is listed in the RR db.
another discovery was the listed "Tri County LTR" system in Laredo has a frequency that was running an idle Motorola UHF Trunk control channel: 464.4000
heard some possible Tetra in Nuevo Leon in the 380ish ranges, but never picked up any kind of control or data channel...
Laredo PD is still using analog DES on their Convention VHF system...
Border Patrol is active, sometimes in the clear, sometimes encrypted.
would like to have run trunker on a few systems - maybe next time!
