Laredo Fire was in the clear for over a month. Now dispatch is going back and forth with active encryption. When Laredo Fire was in the clear, there were no alert tones for calls, which was weird. Does anyone have an idea why this happens? Also, most units were in the clear.

ActiveAlert and other apps and alerting systems are quite common these days, and many big cities no longer have to drop tones over the air. The electronic station alerting activates alarms in the dispatched stations, and down to the most rural levels, every volunteer in a small department can get instant notifications on their smartphones. The days of Minitors are fading.
