FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Date: 05/30/2009 Time: 11:25 p.m.
On May 30, 2009 at approximately 4:00 p.m., Colorado State Troopers responded to a fatal crash on Highway 14 milepost 138 in Larimer County. A black 1999 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight was westbound on Highway 14. A green 2003 Ford Windstar was eastbound on Highway 14. The Oldsmobile ran off the left side of the roadway, crossed the grass center median, and collided head-on with the Ford in the left lane of eastbound Highway 14.
The restrained driver of the Oldsmobile has been identified as Delva Norman, age 81 from Fort Collins, Colo. Norman sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Larimer County Coroner.
The restrained driver of the Ford has been identified as Maria Lopez-Flores, age 23 from Fort Collins, Colo. Lopez-Flores sustained moderate injuries and was transported via ambulance to Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland. The other passengers age nine, five, three and one were also transported to Medical Center of the Rockies with serious to minor injuries. All were properly restrained in vehicle.
Alcohol or drugs are NOT suspected as contributing factors.
This crash is still under investigation.
