I have this Antenna and the metal tab that makes contact with the NMO connector broke off  inside the base on me recently. So...I either have to buy new antenna (I can't seem to find replacement base for this smaller diameter antenna) or I can use the base of an extra Tri-Band Larsen I have. The diameter on the 825 antenna is smaller than the Tri-Band base opening but obviously I can tighten the set screw down and hold it in place. My concern is, does the base on the Tri-Band have any type of particular 'loading/resistance' different than that of the original 825 base that would screw up the 825 reception? Even in saying this I realize now I could just check on the ohm meter but I don't know enough about other specific antenna characteristics...
Thank you in advance.

I'd contact Larsen directly and see if they can provide you with a new base. I think it's the standard base like they'd use on a 1/4 wave, but I'm not 100% sure. You can order different cone adapters that will fit the different sized whips. The thread at the bottom is standard.
