I have a Larson Dual band ham antenna on my car, I only seem to get noise when the humidity is real high and driving through fog. Any other time I don't notice any noise.

Wind noise? With a 14 inch antenna? I get more road noise from my tires than I do with any antenna that I have ever used. The NMO-150/450/800 is a very good antenna for any mobile installation, and is best mounted on the roof, as is any other antenna, up in the clear with a big ground plane.

Wind noise. Just how fast are you driving?

I'm not driving...I'm qualifing.. :).. I asked this because right now I have a 16" SS whip with a small round ball top and I get a whining in the wind that I can hear at highway speeds...not a huge deal with me, but my wife gives me the look...

A wife can always be replaced, a good radio is hard to find.
