Police EDACS channels were used to coordinate the 2026 Las Cruces Electric Light Parade. The radio traffic was EDACS-only, though; the calls did not appear on the P25 system.

I was reminded of something I heard on DTRS around two years ago. It went something like: "We'll use Channel Eleven. That's available" which was almost immediately followed by "I don't want to be 'That Guy', but our radios only go up to ten".

LCPD Channel 1, Central Dispatch,
353/02-121, has been effectively missing from the EDACS system for a week now.Sometime after 8:30pm on Sunday, July 5, Channel 1 just plain stopped working, so Central Dispatch switched to "Channel 3". During the switch, a "gateway" was mentioned, so that answers my question regarding whether or not one was in use. Radio Shop tests were on the air shortly thereafter. (Nothing like getting called in to work Sunday night on a holiday weekend!)
On Monday morning, dispatch was still on Channel 3, so I fired up an instance of dsd-fme to start logging EDACS calls. Channel 1 was restored to the P25 system shortly after 12pm, but not to EDACS. Since then, fewer than two dozen Channel 1 calls have appeared in the logs, and I suspect those were all Radio Shop tests. Other LCPD Talkgroups were logged as usual.
SDRTrunk continues to pick up new P25 talkgroups, but nothing that wasn't already in the database for EDACS.
After many years of listening to LCPD on EDACS, I gave in and loaded the P25 into my BCD325P2 and and found all three active channels in use. The volume for the P25 is majorly higher than the EDACS volume. Can't explain that. Channel 2 and 3 still multi-transmitting on EDACS. Don't know how long that will last. I was glad to hear channel 1 again.
Yes, SDRTrunk is still showing the "PATROL-2" EDACS gateway alias (or whatever it's called). There are LCPD personnel who use Channel 2 almost exclusively: Animal Control Officers, Codes Officers, Park Rangers, Service Aides, (there may be others) and I take it this means the P25 radios haven't fully rolled out to this group.
There is also the Fleet Call on Talkgroup 11352, but it's not in the database. The alias appears as "-PATROL-", or "-PATROL" with the last character missing, which is apparently a thing on Harris systems.

The P25 system appears to be L3Harris, so I'd almost wager a month's wages that is exactly what they are using.
There was a drastic decrease in the number of LCPD EDACS calls logged by dsd-fme, starting around 8:17am on Wednesday, July 29.
It's obviously too early to tell if this decrease is significant. Fleet Calls, such as shift change announcements, are still used on a regular basis, and still appear on both EDACS and P25.

I no longer hear EDACS for LCPD, but all the other channels on P25 are now active. 1,2,3, 5 are active.

This may be the actual Cut-Over and shut-down of EDACS. We'll see.
The in house radio shop had a good run keeping the edacs alive and had got spare parts and equipment I recall back in day. Id imagine the same is being done for the harris system.
EDACS is still going, though the active channels seem to be almost all Las Cruces Utilities.

I guess I could always drive out there with a scanner.

It wouldn't surprise me if they are encrypted as the county road shop is encrypted.
Agreed! Of course, I should still see the talkgroup ID pop up on SDRTrunk if their radios affiliate, though.
County roads was unencrypted for at least several days recently. I heard at least one crack about "$5,000 radios".
