Last nite, the new channel (531) was very active and it was all DASO calls from the southern parts of the county. also noticed last night that LCPD dispatchers would broadcast a call to "someone" on one of the special event channels and then a few minutes later would send units on the main channel. any ideas? Maybe running it past a Lt. or Sargent first? I thought it was strange.

Thinking caps on, everyone. Now, I have noticed that there are only 3 RIDs (Uniden UIDs) associated with channel 531. Uniden talk: i7 is the dispatcher for sure. The other two are: i121 and i122. Does that say anything definitive? maybe NOT a patch. I notice this when traffic is not busy when running UniTrunker, that is, i7 is on, then one or the other is on. Traffic is very brief and infrequent,.... to me, indicative of a small or not too busy community like Chaparral? I should not say this because I never have been in Chaparral,.. just passing by traveling on Mcombs many moons ago when I used to live in El Paso and worked at WSMR. I assume they didn't move Chaparral.

I tried but unfortunately I live down in a valley and can not receive DASO 155.xxx channels from my home. I did scan the Las Cruces talk group LEN channel while 531 was active and it not the same.

Peter,
You might be right, Chaparral has grown over the years. there are several full time DASO and at least 1 Otero deputy assigned there now. But, when I was listening to 531, they were dispatching calls throughout southern Dona Ana County including Sunland Park and Antony as well as Chaparral. Ireally do believe it is some kind of a patch

Jeff,

Thanks for your input. Let's keep an eye open when going around the city.. check out the antennas on the SO cruisers... long tall ones with load coil at base for VHF, and short ones like the PD and all city vehicles have for the 800 TRS.. may have both (all of them?).

I've just noticed a County animal control wagon with the small antenna, and not with the long Hi-VHF antenna.
I also listened to the 04-023 (531) channel this morning simulcasting with 154.815 (the used-to-be frequency for the city police info channel before they went EDACS). So.... what to conclude?

It sounds to me like they are starting to migrate some of the county freqs to EDACS.......the only way that SO officers and City officers can communicate now is on the LEN channel (355) which has caused problems in the past during SWAT operations that both agencies were involved. I hope that they do convert so I can monitor more county calls too!

Someone should track down an SO unit and ask them if they know anything ;-)
