Listening to a 414 on Bolden, unit pressed his emergency button twice and it didnt work. He sounded pretty pissed when he asked for a code red, and after he lifted the red he asked the dispatcher to log the button failure in the event. Just more and more problems........

Doesn't surprise me at all, considering the issues "BrokenSky" has had in other areas of the country.

It's probably good, since that button is only for 444 level emergencies. The emergency buttons just came on in the past week or so, so I don't expect them to work perfectly for another month or two.

I dont see anything good about it, if an officer decides he needs to press his emergency button for whatever reason it should work! Why should they have to wait a month or two when obviously they've been told to use it now in the event of an emergency? Obviously they deployed the radios way too soon, they should have waited until the system was 100% before they deployed radios to officers. Oh well I guess lets hope there aren't any 444 level emergencies for the next two months............

The emergency button is being tested at this point. If there is a "444 level emergency" they can do what they normally do -scream at the radio until we figure out what's wrong. The emergency button will be a benefit, and shouldn't be used for a 414 or any low level emergency. Don't get me wrong, I am not defending the radios, but I am just making sure you understand the 'emergency button.' Also, if you randomly see an officer rip their ear piece out of their ear, that would be the "emergency button test."

Dont get me wrong, I understand completely. The 414 wasn't exactly low level as the suspects tried to flee in their car and the officer mentioned they were reaching between the seats for something. But either way the last thing an officer should have to worry about is a radio failure, which happened and keeps happening! I think most can agree metro never should have went with Opensky. Its always had problems and obviously always will! But on another note I'll keep my eyes open for any officers ripping out their ear piece.

I don't know if it always will have major issues, but it'll take some time to get all the bugs worked out. No one likes the system, but unfortunately, too much time and money has been invested in it to completely abandon it. Metro just doesn't have the resources to start from scratch, especially in this economy.

So has the LVMPD switched almost all of its channels over to the Opensky system?... I see that there is only one live feed now. (Northeast).

Open sky? What happens in Vegas, really stays in Vegas when Open Sky is involved. At least there are plenty of security systems to monitor. This might affect my decision to visit this city in the future. No scanning cops would be a deal breaker for me. There are other places to gamble.

Must be something wrong with the feed then cause Ive had it up for at least half an hour and its been dark the whole time.

Just thought they may have taken VHF offline because all of the other LVMPD feeds are offline.

It's a problem with the feeds themselves, not the network. I don't know what's up with the Northeast feed, but it has been like this since last night at least. They won't kill the patches until Feb-Mar next year.

Ah. That would explain it, thanks.

Lets hope things get hammered out. Will they be able to be interoperable with lets say; San Bernardino Sheriff? SBSO has begun putting up Motorola 700 P25 sites in some areas. They are still in the testing phase but it looks like that's the way they are heading. I would just hope they can talk to their neighbors if they have to.

Interoperability with SBSO was a pre-req of the system when it went out to tender. Last I heard there is some sort of link either in progress or will be shortly. How it will happen, don't know yet

So can sbso go into Nevada. And can lvpd come in to. Ca?

Police are not restricted by borders. They might not have jurisdiction there, but you can still get pulled over by one. At least that is how it works here up in the northwest.
