Anyone have anything on Lasalle county sheriff dept. Haven’t heard them in about a week on their Dmr connect plus talkgroup. They remain active on their vhf frequency tho.

Hopefully they didn't switch to encryption or are in the process of doing so. Are you receiving any activity from their TG? I'm not sure what scanner(s) you have, but if you're receiving an encrypted transmission on a Uniden radio you'll see either 'ENC' or 'ENCRY' on your display. I just checked Broadcastify Calls and it appears that there's just a bunch of random, very brief key-ups on their TG.

They could be in the process of switching over to SC21. I noticed last year when EMA was conducting tests on ITTF Region 3B TG.
I was told they did some radio work last week and are on the same radio system. I ran a discovery for 2 days on the dmr sites and also on the starcom sites and i have nothing. I didn't seen and enc channels coming up either so it is all still all a mystery

They are in the process of finding a new radio system as clear talk is failing at the moment

I find it "interesting" that they say "None of the 3 PSAPS can hear any radio traffic from each department" since IVRD are all PDs except Ottawa are in the clear on VHF. Streator's PSAP is in Livingston County and on StarCom 21. The SO was the lone department on a commercial radio system of a type none of them have (DMR). Unless the individual officer had the right scanner, no one was hearing the sheriff unless they were on their VHF channels (which the "small cities" that are dispatched by the SO use) or ISPERN or IREACH :) Funny Ottawa is "not a fan" of StarCom since they are mostly in a valley with an encrypted VHF P25 system AND a StarCom site (at the IDoT building on Rt. 6). Maybe they're talking about Marselles and I can see where StarCom may be spotty there, but Seneca works with it (Grundy County handling the dispatch even) so I'm SURE Motorola could come up with something

I remember a few years ago Ottawa fire was looking into starcom. But the city's radio system was fairly new(er) and even with a trade in with all the radios and equipment the city would have to still pay some crazy money like over a million for a starcom switch. Ottawa and County always had to be different than everyone else the power struggle was (is) real. It took so many years to get the county to put in a fire repeater system that worked and soon as they did departments started switching to ottawa dispatch and radio system sucked again and fire/ ems departments paged off their "own" channels and not have a common paging channel. Most the county's around dispatch Fire and police departments. but not lasalle county ottawa has to put their hands in the pot and try to be county dispatch for everyone. Maybe one day everyone will work together and be on the same system or atleast have a common page out freq.

I view this as a "buy now, cry now" solution. We did this a few years ago in a different state. Sure, the buy in was expensive, but the greater system handling remediation/repair down the line is a financially responsible choice. It does bring up other issues with more expensive subscriber radios. Overall, joining the state network and handing repairs/mediation over to the state was a good choice for us. Our propagation studies allowed us to really fine tune the coverage needed. Radio coverage for our responders has never been better.

I used to hear them on 155.145, 155.70, and 155.61 , are these ever used,....
Yes they are 155.145 is used by the rural PDs like Utica, Grand Ridge, Naplate, Sheridan communications to County
155.700 still used by County Deputies and their backup to their DMr system

I think they are on teir 3 now. I’m getting their alias and key ups but haven’t figured out all the frequencies and lcn numbers yet.

LaSalle County would likely spend their money wisely on a consultant that is not a shill for Motorola, but has a history of being truly independent. A practical countywide communications plan is not only user-friendly when the sh*t hits the fan, i.e. simple, but accommodates responding agencies that are routinely outside of the county or are based in an adjacent county. With all of the investment in VHF highband systems that has been made in LaSale County, is beefing up the Sheriff's system in VHF the route to go?

After a few weeks and a few long days with dsdplus and the help of some great people on this forum. We have identified the Tier III system Lasalle Sheriff has switched over too. This is a new site coming off the sheridan tower( cap+ original site.) We are still in the progress trying to figure out any more sites like site 7( Utica or Ottawa) To my knowledge the cap+ system is still in use by lasalle county highway, ready mix and csx railroad. the Tgs i monitor anyways and heard them as of recent using the cap+ system.
