It appears as if LaSalle Fire has migrated to a new system. The dispatch side of the conversation is being rebroadcast on their old frequency. Anyone have any info on the new system?

Edit: Based on a recent Windsor Star photo - it appears as if they may be using a UHF Trbo System (Looks like an XPR7550 UHF antenna sticking out of the firefighters coat pocket in the photo found here - http://tinyurl.com/z8r8fcf)

Wonder if they're on the FleetConect 158 System - or if they set up their own repeater.

It's possible they may have switched to FleetConnect as it appears the rest of the county's Fire Departments have made the switch, I see Amhurstburg, Tecumseh, Essex, and Lakeshore listed. It would make sense LaSalle would too.

The county departments dispatched by Windsor switched in 2012. But those county departments dispatched by LaSalle opted to remain on VHF with LaSalle acquiring new Kenwood NX-200s back in 2013.

Just seems odd that they would deploy a new system when their current radios are only 3 years old.

In any event - curious to see if anyone is able to figure out where they went.

Yes, they have switch to FleetConnect (Mototrbo Connect Plus). Heard they switched due to coverage issues.

Interesting. Curious why they didn't hop over to Nexedge like the LaSalle Police did (especially since they had the hardware). Speaking with a few friends who happen to be officers there, their coverage has been great since making the NXDN switch.

Any idea on what talk-groups they're utilizing on FleetConnect?

LaSalle fire has had alot of issues with reception. Thames Communication has been out many times to fix the issues and they couldn't figure it out. Changed antennas and all sorts of things.
So the fire dept said well.. if you cant fix it we are going to find someone who can.

Left thames and went to Kelcom and got on the ConnectPlus system. All the trucks have 5550's and 7550's for portables and no issues to report

Im sure LaSalle police have the same reception issues just them being digital kinda "fixes" that more or less over analog

I know that fire has struggled the last year or two with reception, as did police before they went to NXDN. It just surprises me that Fire didn't decide to switch over to NXDN first before totally giving up....especially since they had purchased quite a few NXDN radios. Likely would have been cheaper in the long term in light of the system access fees, etc. associated with FleetConnect.

To my understanding its because Thames Communication does the police system and fire had nothing but trouble with thames.. So new company and problem solved. Think they got to the point thames couldnt fix the issues so had to move on to better

Must of been a better deal for them to swap to trbo then nxdn. Maybe kelcom gave them a good deal on rental fees or a few months free.

Their VHF analog dispatch channel is patched into the UHF fleetconnect system so their pagers will still work and what not

They do have 2 simplex channels in the radios but they are UHF non patched. Maybe Thames doing something with them channels since they belong to them and not Kelcom
