Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had any information on LASD Metro Tac channels as I have heard about it twice in the past week while never hearing about it over SCC before. The first occurrence was on Satuday when SCC advised a Walnut Sam unit to go on Industry Metro re an unknown call. The second was today when San Dimas units were working on a barricaded suspect, the deputies opted to use their “new Metro” rather than the ATAC1 that SCC had reserved for them. If you know more about this please let me know thanks!

To add onto this, each station has an encrypted L-Tac, Metro, and a DB (Detective) Talk group.. They also have encrypted A-Tac's now as well which are not the same as the old analog A-Tac's.. pretty much the only thing in the clear on the new system is dispatch I believe.

Interesting.. today a high school was on lock down they went from L-TAC 8 to moving everyone to "CV New Metro"... couldn't find it and assuming it may be part of RICS encrypted channels now?

Around 14:25 I heard an announcement on Temple Dispatch to switch to METRO until Monday. Announcement mentioned they'd be monitoring L-TAC but advised all units to switch to METRO and they were going to do a roll call in 5 minutes.

The announcement this morning on Temple dispatch was until Monday Temple would be Dispatching on Temple Metro and using Temple Db as their Ltac... no busy tone and this is a test for future switching to the trunked system for dispatch channels in the future. Both Metro and DB are listed as encrypted in the database.

That is going to be one quiet talk group.
Another reason I'm bummed about the encryption. Finally wouldn't have to listen to a shared L-TAC and all the chatter from South LA.

They've actually been talking a lot lately. I think it's because they don't have to keep things brief and use the channel sparingly, since the channel's not shared anymore. I'll see activity pop up throughout the day.
