I programmed the LASO freq's from the database into my Pro97 and only seem to be able to hear the Dispatch side and not the Patrol Units (or Radio Cars as they say). I live on the west side of Riverside and am a distance from most of their area, but can hear dispatch fine. I can hear car to car and car to airship communications on the Countywide Tac's, but not on the normal freq's.

Also I am suprised by how many agencies from LA county I can hear from here with just a basic Pro97 and stock antenna, just can't figure out this little dilemma with LASO.

Except during some "hot" incidents, the deputies' transmissions aren't heard on the repeater, but rather you hear a "beep - beep - beep" tone to indicate that someone is transmitting. It's been discussed here quite a bit, such as at

This topic - as well as the difficulty of monitoring CHP mobiles in parts of the state - comes up regularly, especially with new listeners. Perhaps there should be a sticky or FAQ for them if there isn't already.

Thanks....I guess I should've done a search. When I was driving up north on 395 between Adelanto and Ridgecrest I could hear both Dispatch and the Deputies on the Lancaster freq, must've been a fluke thing.

They were probably on the "patch", in which the dispatcher lifts the busy tone to allow deputies to communicate with one another during a "hot call"....

That makes sense, I could hear the Deputies taking to each other on Industry and Lakewood last night, both during incidents involving a perimeter and felony stop....
