Wonder if you were hearing the transmission from Frazier in Bakersfield...
When I went up to Frazier mountain once I saw a chp transmitter in the repeater shack for the Bakersfield office Brown 42.500 and The blue 42.340.

Any update on Yellow here in LA?

Is Yellow being neglected as far as a change over in LA?
Nope, they haven't been neglected. The state has run into licensing/interference issues with some of the frequencies they had originally planned on using, and those need to be ironed out, which involves both technology and bureaucracy.

Well, meanwhile, everything else sounds good. All channels passing mobiles.

It's basically all switched to ___2, except for east L.A... as far as I know.

Heard a couple chases out on the flats in Antelope the last month or so... Very nice the way it is now.

Skip Interference on the Gold-2

The Gold-2 is down due to skip traffic on the 42.88 input frequency. Santa Fe Springs units are on TAC-5, 42.92 R and TAC-6, 45.06 R. Time for a PL/CTCSS change.

Any idea what agency was coming in via skip?

They're getting some skip transmissions now (using the same PL as Santa Fe Springs). I just heard one referring to I-70 milemarker 214, another referring to eastbound 64. Those two highways intersect in Missouri, so that must be where it's coming from. One of the transmissions also referred to a Missouri license plate, and they gave a current time that's in the central time zone.

I can't tell what agency it is, though. The RR database doesn't list that freq for the Missouri Highway Patrol, so I can't be sure it's them, but I don't know who else would be working the highways there.

Santa Fe Springs just announced that they are switching to Tac 5 for East units and Tac 6 for South units due to the interference.

update: OK, I just noticed that MHP uses a rural dispatch base frequency of 42.14 PL 186.2 , which is Santa Fe Springs' mobile frequency. So the skip is coming from the Missouri Highway Patrol.

The Yellow-2, East L.A., changeover has been delayed because of a frequency change, and a new site added; that explains what happened with that.

The Gold input frequency will be changed or the PL will be changed, which will make that PL different form the rest of Southern Division's PL, or Missouri will agree to change frequencies or their PL, neither of which is likely. Most likely, the input frequency to the Gold will be changed, that's the quickest solution.

I am hearing what sounds like skip interference on Riverside 39.6800. I have CTCSS on and it is the same tone. I checked the 6 meter ham band and it appears to be "open" as well. A lot of activity. I cannot get a call sign and I don't know morse code.
