Not sure where to post this, Mods feel free to move this where appropriate. Just realized while doing a DB update this morning that there was also a firmware update for my HP2 ! Anybody have a clue what this was for ?

Just checked my Home Patrol Sentinel for the HP2, not showing any firmware updates available here.

My scanner is at - Main of version 1.06
Sub of version 1.02
Do you have a spare card available? You may end up needing it.
I had something similar happen while checking for updates and updating the database on my 536. I was quite surprised when it downloaded a firmware update to the card. I checked Uniden's site for info, but found nothing. I figured that it was something new, but didn't have any release notes posted yet. When the card was put back into the scanner, everything booted up the same as it had done for years. I was expecting for it to upload the firmware that had just been placed on the card, but nothing happened.
Fast forward a week later, the card was corrupted and froze up the scanner. I tried reformatting and didn't have any trouble reading, or writing with a PC, but the scanner still wasn't happy. I ended up stealing the card out of an old Garmin GPS I had laying around, and after a quick format, my issue was resolved.
My guess is there was something wrong with the card when Sentinel was comparing firmware that was on the card vs. what was available, thus triggering the download.

What version is yours now?
I believe this has come up before. My HP-2 also shows firmware 1.06, and there has never been a firmware update for this model available via Sentinel.
I could not locate it via a quick search on the forums, but I believe that at some point, someone with a brand new HP-2 said they showed firmware 1.10, but that is not available in Sentinel.
However, Uniden, as well as Whistler, has shipped newer units with a slightly different firmware version than what is available for updates. This has usually been because one or more components, from the original design, is no longer available. So that operation of the newest units is the same as earlier production, a slight firmware tweak, for the newest units, is in place so that the operation is the same across both original as well as newer units.

I think it was already on Sentinel from a previous date, but didn't find it til yesterday. No idea when it was released though.

Those are the original versions of the firmware that were in the first HP2 units that were released. As mentioned above, there have never been any new releases of firmware available through Sentinel for the HP2.
There have been newer versions of the firmware that were factory installed on later HP2 units to accommodate updated hardware, but those versions have never been released through Sentinel, because they only address newer components in those scanners, and offer no updates or benefits to older units.
if you try to update an older HP2 through Sentinel that has the same original version of firmware that you have, Sentinel will tell you that it is still up-to-date.

When I bought my HP2 in October of 2022, first thing I did was use Sentinel to update the database and check for a firmware update...
But I never looked what version the scanner was before I did it... It did update thru Sentinel and the scanner loaded it when it rebooted...
So your guess is as good as mine why my scanner is showing 1.06... And I see Steve's is showing that version too...
Could be revised hardware as Steve mentioned...
Wish I would have looked what version it was before Sentinel's so called update...
