Is this pending FCC license application actually the beginning fruition of St. Charles Parish marriage into the Latie system? It is submitted by Jefferson Parish although. Is this license application a Jefferson Parish system extension or actually the beginning of a JP/St Charles co-op Latie marriage. I do not know the answer.

The license application link is as follows: http://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/ApplicationSearch/applLocSum.jsp?applID=4346040

Description of Special Need
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office (JPSO) currently operates a 20-channel digitally trunked radio system under the call sign WPGP269. In mutual agreement with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office (SCPSO), JPSO desires to locate one (1) channel in the Parish of St Charles to provide inter-jurisdictional communication.
JPSO is currently preparing an application for licenses modification. JPSO request that a Special Temporary Authority (STA) be granted in order that the channel may be operated during the time period prior to the approval of the license modification.
3.
Type of Operation to be Conducted
The channel is currently in operation in Jefferson Parish for data communications. An additional location will be added at 222 Joe Louis Lane, Hahnville, LA. The additional site will be used to extend the coverage area of the data channel allowing the St. Charles Parish Sheriffs use of the channel.
4.
How Facilities will be used
The proposed facilities will be used to extend a JPSO data channel to St Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office to help conduct operations critical to the safety and protection of its citizens. This joint operation will also provide additional interoperability between agencies and spectral efficiency in use of the channel.
5.
Time and Dates of Operation
The station will be in operation 24 hours a day, seven days a week, beginning on the date of STA approval, until the end of the authorized STA period. (180 days requested).

They applied for this a few weeks ago... just for expanded coverage for their computers... and maybe St. Charles will be using the JPSO infrastructure for their MDTs.

I think it will allow SC and JP deputies to communicate on the MDT's when the need arises. After all, they do share a considerable border and except in Kenner (where you slam into a canal  ) very few people realize they have changed parishes.
