Livonia police is encrypted as the database shows. The "E" in the mode column means full time encryption so no scanner can monitor the traffic. Sorry but you are out of luck.

FWIW: Livonia Fire Department is still simulcast on VHF. Their dispatch can be heard on on 155.790

Even a new bearcat scanner

The new bearcat scanners deal with simulcast issues. Encryption has nothing to do with simulcast. Encryption is designed specifically to prevent unauthorized persons from hearing their communications.

Different kind of simulcast. Not to be confused with MPSCS simulcast.

Any radio capable of tuning 155.79 will do.

You can still monitor Livonia Fire on a digital scanner unless they switch to one of the encrypted Fireground talkgroups. I live in Livonia and listen every night. I use the SDS100 and hear them on the Wayne Cty. Simulcast site as well as the Northville Site.

You can't listen to Livonia police on any scanner, they are 100% encrypted and no scanner will decode them.
