I have an update from DeSoto Parish as to the new LAWIN 700 mHz system
that has replaced the radio systems in Fire Dist 5 and 8 down in Mansfield. I
have a long-time friend that is a Cheif down there and he said they're not to happy with the new system. It doesn't have the range the old one did.
Fire District 5 was on high-band VHF and District 8 was on 400mHz. It may
be just the way the system was set-up (not enough rf power and antenna
height to cover a wider area. As far as I know, there are no 700 mHz units
in East Texas to coordinate car chases, etc.
Has anyone heard different about the 700 mHz units?
