I have never seen this kind of post before and let me first say I had tried to do researchx and not looking for frequencies just information. I have an hour layover at O'Hare next week and looki ng for some stuff to listen to. I have the frequencies, but realistically since I'll only be there an hour, don't want to dump EVERY THING IN THE SCANNER. So what would YOU program???

In order of interest to me:
1 The tower frequencies, at O'hare this will be a steady stream of traffic
2 The frequencies for the airline you are flying
3 CPD at the Airport
4 TSA or a Federal VHF Limit Search
5 Find the nearest Starcom tower, you're in /\/\'s backyard and there's the Tollway ISP, ISP Chicago, many local PDs and FDs and if it's daytime probably some radio techs, all using the system around you, when I travel I always drop in a few of the locals public safety items into my scanner, it's fun to hear how it's done in the rest of the country.

And you've clearly never flown through O'hare before, you'll be late getting in and even later getting out, so make sure you have at least the first two points I mentioned programmed in if you want to know if you'll ever get out.;) While I've had some major delays there it's by far not the worst I've had time wise or even as far as having things to do, but bring an extra set of batteries just in case.

A little off topic, but with all the groping, and games the TSA are doing these days, I probably would just skip my flight and have more fun scanning in the terminal! :)

CPD and CFD use the O'Hare trunked system (this one: Chicago O'Hare Airport Public Safety Trunking System, Chicago, Illinois - Scanner Frequencies) at the airport itself, although CPD Zone 1 is just to the east of the airport, CFD for that area would be on their Main channel. As far as StarCom goes, I believe there is a tower for the Cook-North simulcast (site 1-015) on one of the parking garages, that's what you're looking for.

FYI There is no Military aircraft based at O'Hare anymore so Milair would be a waste of time.. Voter C-130s went to Peoria and the KC-135s went to Scott AFB downstate
