KUTV - Layton Police have swarmed a neighborhood near Highway 89 and 20th North where a man is inside his home with a weapon.
The man inside the house apparently brandished a weapon Wednesday morning in front of at least one other family member.
“We saw the police pull in and exit their vehicles, guns over their shoulders,” said Reverend Myke Crower, a nearby neighbor.
Police have removed all family members from the house and are now speaking with the man inside in hopes of ending the standoff peacefully.
“They did bring a young man out, it looked like he was in his late teens or maybe early 20’s, I thought that was the end of it and I noticed it’s not,” said Crower.
Authorities have not identified the man, but say he is the homeowner. Officers have made contact with the suspect.
“Right now, things are progressing,” said Lt. Quinn Moyes of Layton Police. “We are trying to safely resolve this.”
Within the last year, there was another standoff, at the same home. Police said that standoff ended peacefully.
Lt. Moyes said with all the family members removed from the home there is no urgency in bringing the standoff to a fast closure.
