We are converting Harbor security to narrowband today. Harbor Maint will stay wideband for now since they have not changed out all of the radios yet.

I thought the Port of Long Beach was already narrow band and on the 700 MHz Trunked System.

Nope, that system isn't used most of the time. It just sits there. I did hear a drill conducted before it was completed and all the talkgroups were encrypted. Some traffic was in the clear. It is intended to be fully encrypted and includes the tenants and all security related agencies. But it is not being used for day to day operations, only special events and emergencies...

Maybe wb5pwj has more info

Gman is correct. We have a completed 700 ADP encrypted system but very little 700Mhz stuff.
Most traffic is UHF at this time.

The only 700 traffic is the XTS1500 emergency radios. We have talk groups for most of the city but Long Beach stands for Low Budget. Virtually all radio purchases are grant funded these days.
