LCD Question

I was in Litchfield Country today and I haf LCD dispatch and all of the freqs program for LCD Dispatch center for fire . Now I have a question. All i heard was the dispather. I didnt hear the talk back to the dispatcher, from the fire department. How come? why is that. Can any one tell me.

Probably because they are using simplex, which is line of sight transmissions. You heard the dispatcher because their antenna is usually several hundred feet off the ground, allowing for long range. But the trucks only have antennas about 3 feet high mounted on the vehicle. That's probably the reason you can't hear the units, you need to be closer. :)

I have the same problem. I think they are using simplex because I can hear units in nearby towns only but I can always hear dispatch.

You have to listen to Channel 2 whihc is the operations repeater frequency to hear units talking to LCD. If you are listening to the old 33.7000 you will not hear them. Also liistening to the VHF High band also depends where you are if you can hear them or not and which repeater is enabled.
