LCRA Opensky frequencies

LCRA has moved some of their EDACS voice channels to Opensky. The database needs to be updated to match. Here are some examples:

LCNs 11 through 15 of the Georgetown site have moved to Opensky.

935.2000 Georgetown LCN 11
936.4500 Georgetown LCN 12
937.2375 Georgetown LCN 13
938.2375 Georgetown LCN 14
939.4250 Georgetown LCN 15

LCNs 13 and 14 of the Cedar Park site (misnamed "Lago Vista") have moved to Opensky.

937.4500 Cedar Park LCN 13
938.1875 Cedar Park LCN 14

I'm not sure which site hosts these two Opensky channels

936.2375 Bastrop LCN 6 or new frequency on WPMI700 Cedar Park.
936.7000 possible new frequency on WPMI700 Austin 1.

Question, if you tune to 936.9500 Mhz which is listed as
LCN#7 of the LCRA 900Mhz EDACS Comal Co Site #27 TRS
you hear a control channel sounding data signal, is this and OpenSky ?

Second, still scratching my head about what happened to the output reach
of the LCRA Comal Co Site #27 TRS, yesterday I traveled along Loop 1604
between Rolling Oaks Mall and RAFB and I was reading the control channel
LCN#1 935.7000 as site #27 sometimes reaching over 90% mod strength
I know SOMEONE other other than an LCRA or Dailey-Wells tech has to know
what's the deal since early Feb ish ? It's like the big bad wolf knocked down
the tower and it's been relocated AND also must be laying down on it's side
touching the dirt to have it's output that consistently poor as far as coverage !!!

Yes. You may hear that sound on other nearby LCRA sites.

None of the Dobie site frequencies have moved to Opensky. However, here are some sites that have ...

Smithville is (so far) the only site where an EDACS control channel (LCN 2) was migrated. I'm not 100% on Smithville since it is further away.

935.9625 Cedar Valley LCN 07

Lake Austin's LCN 10 is still an EDACS voice channel. Getting weird pulsed data bursts on LCN 11 and 12. Not EDACS or Opensky.

LCRA has clearly stated in many documents, that all of the non-public safety subscribers to the analog EDACS system will eventually have to upgrade to their OpenSky system. They have also clearly stated that all public safety users will have to upgrade to their P25 system, or jump ship before they turn off their EDACS network (no word on that date yet).

I'm confused now. I didn't know any group was on LCRA in the G-town area. Who in G-town is using these freqs on the LCRA system? Would I have to program the whole LCRA system into my radio in order to here something on the LCRA system here in Round Rock?

Does anyone know what I might be able to listen to on the LCRA system here in RR? I can't hear RRPD anymore, so I would like to find something else to listen to. I'm bored because the fire department isn't very busy.

W5TWX - program the site (the first ten LCNs) into your radio to see what turns up. You may hear Capital Metro (bus and rail), CARTS, or who knows what.

CARTS and random LCRA talkgroups would be my guess. This doesn't necessarily mean that any agency in Georgetown proper is subscribing, but other subscribers might have noticed a dead zone in the area and LCRA filled it.

Interestingly, I haven't noticed anything unusual about the New Braunfels site. The pattern has been that the other EDACS sites have been trading the last few (or one) frequency in their lineup for an OpenSky frequency.

I thought for sure that when I tuned to the New Braunfels site I'd hear something interesting in the last few LCNs, but I heard analog voice from the EDACS system on every LCN. Maybe I need to search the rest of the 900 band here for anything else.

Has there been any activity with Open Sky? I believe that Lago Vista PD may have switched to this in Travis County. They are simulcasting over their LCRA analog talkgroup 12-041 but I can tell it's simulcast because the unit id is always the same and the simulcast is broken. What I hear sounds "digital" and they are having a lot of trouble understanding each other at times.

Last I heard LCRA wanted all Public Safety users to move to the P25 network...I haven't heard of any public safety agency moving to the open sky system...try one of the LCRA P25 towers near you..Some agencies south of Hays county are using the system full-time..would not surprise me if that is whay they are patching too since that is how the transition started down here
