I'm hearing unusual traffic on the LCRA Ranger #1 TG (ID 314). I'm getting normal PD LP checks and DL checks. The address in on Yalding Dr. (which is near Cedar Park but doesn't appear to be in their city limits). The other address was on Lakeview St. (and again, which is near Cedar Park but doesn't appear to be in their city limits). I rarely catch this talkgroup active (and usually it sounds like LCRA security officers, like maybe around Lake Travis and their stations there).

The unit numbers I hear are from a DAVID district (DAVID 4X and DAVID 2X), wich corresponds to Austin PD (and others around I imagine), but their sector map doesn't show those addresses to be in DAVID District (or in any APD Districts, but near Cedar Park).

Can anyone fill me in on who this might be? I'm wondering if a local PS Agency lost some radio capability due to high winds and was using the LCRA system unitl further notice? Anyone catching this?

Lcra Ranger_1 Is Our Patch To Travis County Sheriff Adam Radio Which Is West Tc. Many Times In Major Holidays We Will Close Adam Radio And Patch Directly To Tcso Lake Channel. Lcra Dsp_1 Is Patrol Officers Which Do Park Checks And Sub Station Checks And Lcra Dsp_2 Is Posted Officers all Are Police But One Is Patrol The Other Is Stationed @ Critical Areas. So Cedar Park Is Not A Far Strech For Tcso But Also Keep In Mind If You Are Listening To Lcra Channels You Will Hear Us Running 27/29 From San Saba Down To Matagorda Bay We Are All Over Texas Much Like Game Wardens. If Any Small City Needs Our Special Training We Will Go To Them To Help In Any Way We Can.

Thanks Montz,

Another strange thing- 2 nights ago was all the PD chatter that we have pinned down to TCSO. Now, tonight is nothing but 71XX unit numbers (that I'm 99% sure are some Capitol DPS Officers). They're using 4 digit numbers, in the DPS Region 7, and using DPS 10-codes. Why I'm confused is that this TG (LCRA Ranger 1) never came up in the past (once a month or so). The reason I say it rarely pops up is I am monitoring the San Marcos area and only have this site programmed. So, I can see LCRA Austin using a frequency (one that was randomly on SM's tower also) on occasion and I'd happen to catch it off the SM tower- registering the TG. But, the transmission would only be one sentence- the next time their radio was keyed it would roll to another frequency (which I assume would not be on this site- as I'd never hear anything again. Almost as if you had only one frequency for a whole trunking system and would only catch snippets).

However, in the past 3 days (the first TCSO, the third DPS) the whole frequency plan of the SM site is being utilized. I hear the full conversation as it rolls through different frequencies, when in the past it would pop up on the same single freq every time.

Montz do you happen to know who dispatches the Capitol DPS Officers (Region 7)? I wouldn't think LCRA but I've been wrong before- why would this "all of a sudden" change so drastically?

on lcra disp_1 you will hear 71xx and on disp_2 you will hear 72xx the 71xx is patrol officers and the 72xx are posted react officers. 7000 is chief 7120's are east bastrop, fayette, wharton, matagorda 7130's are central dist which is lake travis task force and 7140's are west burnet, llano, blanco, san saba. 7250's-7260's central 7280's west 7270's east I am 7260. The closer to a solid number the higher the rank I am Float REACT SGT

7000 Chief
7100 Assnt Chief
7120 East Pat Sgt
7130 Cen Pat Sgt
7140 West Pat Sgt
7250 Cen react sgt
7260 float sgt
7270 east react sgt
7280 west react sgt

Also the way our towers are set up is one or more LCRA radios need to be moitoring said channel in order for the tower to repeat it. I live in Kyle and cover down into san marcos and comal some night you may be picking up my radio others you may not.

Any other questions feel free to ask keep in mind some things i may not be able to answer in the open, but can answer in pm

Thanks Montz,

Tonight has been only 71XXs. I heard 7140 (the W. Patrol Sgt.) and also 7110 (?). All the others have been 712Xs and 714Xs. I'll keep my ear out for you Montz- thanks for clarifying all this for me- had me so confused as to why these "other" agencies would jump in so suddenly. I've even heard 7270 (not tonight mind you- I keep logs). Heard 7124 (or maybe 7121) leaving Matagorda SO- so your are definitely on the money with this.

What would cause all these units to be monitoring LCRA Ranger 1 (rather than the usual LCRA Disp 1- which is usually where I hear these TGs) recently?

Again thanks for all the help Montz. I'll pm you once I've heard you on the waves...

7121 is who you heard this is the officer dedicated to that area. As for all to be on Ranger_1 I do not think this is the case being that Ranger_1 is our patch to tcso this may be a tag that is used by us and tcso I am not sure but as for us talking on s.o. it doesnt happen unless there is a major event going on also we idenify ourselfs as river units (River 60, River 35, River 32) not the usual 71xx idenifyer. 7110 is a Capt of LCRA Public Safety. 10-4 if you hear me let me know I will be either 7260 or 7272 depends on which district I am in.
