Ive been scanning for 25 years

but this is the first time I really have been able to scan trunk systems

Im living on the east slope now and I have several EDAC systems to listen to

chyanne, denver, westminster, I know I have to put freqs in order wich I did but is it wide or narrow??
I seems to hear the control channels but so far I pick up one talk group from westminster and thats it?????

Im sure Im doing something wrong

Help

Jeff, First off I would avoid Cheyenne (it's a weird system) and Denver due to distance from Berthoud at this point. Focus on getting the Westy/Arvada system first.

Confirming you are using the 780 or did your Pro-96 arrive?

It's my understanding that it is narrow. If you take the frequencies from the rr database and enter them into the bank in the order listed, you should be able to hear them. If you can hear the control channel, you should be able to hear the system. This is assuming you have the Pro-96 scanner, or another that can trunk-track EDACS. I don't know where you're located, but you probably will not hear Cheyenne from the east slope. Denver and Arvada/Westminster should be audible though.

Sorry, just noticed you said Berthoud. It may be difficult to receive the systems you listed from there. I've not really tried to scan from up there, but then again, if you can hear the control channel, I would think you could monitor the system. What results are you having so far?

trunking from Berthoud

well Im using a 780 right now and a Mag mount antenna on my AC unit outside the base antenna will be going up sometime this week and Ill be getting the pro 96 next week

AS far as what Im hearing IT will lock onto conversations on the westminster trunk but then it drops them and continues scanning

I do have the 780 in search mode and I was on wide mode for edacs

I have another question as it finds talk groups do I need to hit enter or will the radio automaticly make a list??

At least you are having better luck than in Hollister!!!! Happy Trunking!!

Also, regarding the dropping of transmissions, check your delay settings and make sure it is set for (2 Seconds) and not (-2 Seconds). If you have it on one of the negative settings it will stay on the channel for that long and then continue scanning.

And yes, you need to hit enter to store the TG's in the next available slot.

I live in Loveland about 2.0 miles north of Berthoud and I can receive much of the Denver activity but with a LOT of static. It probably isn't worth the effort unless you spend some time in Denver regulary such as I do.
