Howdy all,

I just spent a week in Vegas at a conference and occasionally listening to Clark County comms. I heard the term in the title used several times, mainly by medic crews and perhaps once or twice by police (though I locked most PD out, interested mainly in Fire and EMS). What does it mean? Is it a reference to someone's immigration status? I heard crews apologizing for bringing a "legal 2000" to such-and-such a hospital on the hospital patch channel, etc.

Thanks in advance! :)

It means that they are taking a person in for mental illness against their will. Legally commiting them, or getting them help for suicidal intentions (usually)

Legal 2000 is the the term that medical professionals, police officers and others use to designate a patient brought in to a medical facility and placed into 4-point retraints for evaluation by a mental health professional.
