I wonder why its illegal to own scanner there? What is there reason for that?
Actually importing (including for personal use) and chewing gum anywhere is prohibited in Singapore, except for therapeutic use.Because in Singapore, everyone MUST walk the straight and narrow.
If you think the scanner restriction is harsh, it's illegal to chew gum in the subway!
If you've got something to add to this list, please reply. Thanks, and have fun!
It might be a bit easier to use sorted in alphabetical order.

Oh! And can anybody say me why that web ( Strong Signals - Scanner Laws ) is illegal? Where's that?
If you are referring to the statement "This is not a legal document", it is in short stating "If the information contained hereinafter is not correct, we will not be held liable for any imprisonment time, lost equipment, or psychological counseling needed after the anal raping that occurred in said prison"
After the 2nd President of Indonesia Mr.H.M.Suharto change. to The third President. about 1998. Its Free to own a Scanner. and also you can buy General Coverage HF. VHF etc. open market .But before its illegal if you do not have a license. Police will hold you ,and the equipment will not be return to you for ever. FREE...FREE...FREE USING SCANNER.
jadi dulu gak boleh. Sesudah Suharto lengser bebas.

I know for a fact it's illegal in Israel.
How do you know?
I could not find anything about it on the ministry of communications page. A few friends of mine listened to aviation frequencies on their radio shack scanners there. When they scanned the bands (other than aviation) they heard nothing.
Then they didn't listen to the right freqs. Here are some Fire Depts. Nationwide 164.475, Jerusalem 164.4875, Tel Aviv 164.500, Haifa 164.4375.
They are all simplex - no repeaters, no trunking.
Thanks. Do you know any other frequencies there of interest? The police and military are trunked if I'm not mistaken. The police are probably digital trunked and the military uses TETRA?
Sorry, that's all I know.
