• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I am with a small, Island Fire Department. Many Moons ago we purchased a pile of H1250 portables,
some CDM 1250 mobiles and even a 750 or two. After the third round of re-programming for whaever reason, we purchased from the local dealer a copy of the RSS. a legitamate copy. and the rib, etc.
We just bought a bunch more 1250 portables while we could still get them wide-band.... (The USCG will be staying wide and we need them in our radios).
and you all know what's next !
Can't read or write them. Now the Dealer has changed hands and this new bum says no way to helping us upgrade the software. Who do I turn to now. He's not getting $50.00 a radio this time around.
Original CD is stamped HVN9025C need to purchase the upgrade and as always willing to both pay and sign over first born to Mother M.

9025c sounds like an old version. Need to call motorola up and see if you can buy it. Hold on to your hats .. It around 250 dollars for it. But before you can get it you have to agree to their license requirements. And for some reason the pro series softare requires a second license that not all people get approved for.

Latest version is around 6.11.05

1250 et all RSS

Thanks for the reply. It is old way old, but it's only been used on the bunch of rigs we bought years ago
and has been doing fine. we figured maybe 7 years or so ago ??? We also figured it would cost the farm to get it up to date but that's OK, needs to be done and it needs to be legal so where do I call ?

The Dealer should NOT have sold you the CPS, that causes a RED FLAG per Motorola's CPS License Agreement... No wonder they are not in business.

Probably was an older version anyway.

When you purchase the CPS from Motorola you get the updates and changes for a year at least. So it is worth having a good copy of the CPS.

You shouldn't be getting CPS from anyone except Motorola directly.

If you would like to buy the software, you should register for an account @ http://businessonline.motorola.com - Motorola's official website. From there you will be able to call the 800 number to have the software added to your account. Once you do, you will be able to buy and instantly download the software. Each license entitles you to 3 years of free upgrades. Latest version is 06.11.10.

For the radios you described in the original post, you will want to buy part number H5177R - the cost is $299. This includes HT and CDM series CPS and PPCPS (for the LS+) as well as a free RIB-to-radio cable for the handhelds.
