Is anyone apprised as to the mobile equipment Adrian PD and Lenawee Co Sheriff are using for 800Mhz? Make and Model #'s? Wattage/Channel Capability? And what about those "Puck Antennas" I am seeing on PD vehicles???

You might not get exactly what Adrian and the Sheriff are using. But there is a lot of info here MPSCS - The MPSCS Advantage

I bet you could call them on the phone and they would tell you. I'm not exactly sure who to call. You could stop and chat with an Officer or Deputy if they are parked in a lot.

I am counting on someone on this site knowing and sharing. This site is abundant with RF...IQ. An officer probably would not be able to tell me model #'s. They are cops, not RF techs.

They can read the labels, some of them know this stuff. As a retired cop I know this to be true.

It's my understanding they are using Motorola APX-6500 mobile radios, which are rated at 35 Watts RF output. The standard radios come with the ability to use 1,250 channels, but that maybe expandable if Lenawee County chose to order the expanded memory option. All of their radios come with ADP encryption preloaded if they want to use it, and can be upgraded to AES encryption if so desired for a fee. As for the puck antennas, I have no information on those.

I've looked at a few different emergency vehicles in Lenawee County in the last few days, all I see are 155 MHz quarter wave whips and Puck antennas ...nothing along the lines of 800 MHz unless they're only 2" long and I just can't see them on top of the suv's.

There are low profile antennas, which are popular with people who care more about aesthetics, or low clearances, than they do about performance.
