Hello all!

I've noticed the DB was updated a while back to include four tac channels for Leominster PD, shown below:

I have a few questions about these, but the most burning one is where did the information come from? I can't find these frequencies licensed to the city on the FCC website, but what I've recorded from scanning them does sound like it could be Leominster, and reception of them is appropriately poor for mobile operations from a town over, where I am listening. I have also found the CTCSS tones to be different than listed on the DB. Basically, I'm wondering if someone knows more about what is going on here, including how we know that these channels are referred to as 5-8 and not 2-5, for example.

Thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this mystery!

Hi Ben

So, per RR policy, I can't disclose who submitted those. But what I can tell you is the submitter would know with very high accuracy both the designation and PL. However, with that said, they were submitted in 2024, and it's always possible things have changed. What PL tones have you detected?

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the information. I realized that only one of the two channels I have received channel, Tac 7, was using what I thought was a different PL tone. It turns out this is actually Townsend fire. I will continue to monitor and verify that the current DB info is up to date, but as of now it does appear to be.

I am also curious about 453.5875MHz, which seems to be a simulcast of the main PD frequency, 453.325MHz. Not sure if you have any insight into this, and whether or not it is worth adding to the DB.

Thanks,
Ben
