Hey Guys,

I was in Levy County a couple weeks ago at the Manatee Springs State Park. I was wondering if Levy County Fire and EMS had switched from the VHF over to SLERS or if they had new frequencies? I know that the Law Enforcement has switched to SLERS. I didn't think that Fire and EMS would have switched. Hope someone can help out.

Levy County public safety including fire and ems has been using SLERS for over a year now. We still use 154.965 for fire and ems paging.

How is that working out for them? Are they volunteers or paid?

Most of the Levy county fire departments are volunteer paid by call departments, Chiefland is the only full time fire department, and there are several other part time departments. Levy county EMS is a full time paid EMS service with 7 ALS units. The SLERS system works better that any system we have had in the past, we get nearly 100% mobile coverage throughout Levy county. The hand held coverage is about 70% county wide with the least coverage around Williston and Morriston, hopefully in the near future we will get another site up around Williston to fix the coverage issues at that location.
