Hi everybody I wanted to put this info here for anybody who may get/be confused on how Lexington county comms are set up. The layout is mostly a shared talkgroup system with each agency having a dedicated shared dispatch talkgroup and then a private talk around/ops talkgroup which is the talkgroups with 1's on them. The "Normal" setup is the following. Cayce/West Columbia/Batesburg-Leesville use their own dispatchers for law but use the shared fire talkgroups for their FD's
24501 - LCSO 1 North Region Dispatch
24502 - LCSO 2 South Region Dispatch
24503 - LCSO 3 West Region Dispatch
24521 = Municipal Law Central - Lexington PD, Pine Ridge PD
24522 = Municipal Law North - Irmo PD, Chapin PD, County Coroner, County Animal Services
24523 = Municipal Law South - Swansea PD, Gaston PD, Pelion PD, Springdale PD, South Congaree PD
24542 - Public Safety Dispatch (All FD's And EMD)
24566 - EMS Dispatch
The usual setup for Municipal LAW is during day shift they are 3 independent channels/talkgroups (Central/North/South) and during night shift Central is still it's own channel/talkgroup but North and South are patched together. However with a dispatcher shortage at the dispatch center all 3 municipal talkgroups are almost always patched now creating a countywide municipal talkgroup. This is mostly done at night but is being done a lot during days as well.
The usual Public Safety/EMS setup is Fire is dispatched on 24542 and then assigned a ops talkgroup for that incident. For EMS all comms occur on 24566 (EMS Dispatch). Again however with a dispatcher shortage at the dispatch center Fire and EMS are initially dispatched on their own dispatch talkgroups but then moved to a specific ops talkgroup. Currently all EMS traffic after dispatch is switched to ops 1 (24531) and all FIRE traffic after dispatch is switched to ops 2 (24532). FIRE/EMS calls are only assigned their own dedicated ops talkgroup if the call requires a major response otherwise they are squished onto ops 1 and ops 2 until they can get more dispatchers.
I am friends with a few law and fire/ems personal and they say its hectic trying to use the radio as everyone is crowed onto the same channels/talkgroups.
