Is this the same Sheriff Jimmy Metts who encrypted the Lexington County Sheriff's radio system? It certainly would make it a lot easier to operate a private police force at the taxpayer's expense.

Looks like a lot of South Carolina sheriffs are in trouble these days. The public needs to wake up and pay attention to what's going on in law enforcement, or the lack thereof.

Well........seems like everyone in Lex is afraid to talk about this. Maybe they are all in on it. Birds of a feather......

A lot of uncertainty about this hangs like a dark cloud over Lexington County. Many have known or at least suspected that a lot of things were not right, going back to when Lexington County Sheriff's communications went dark in the late 1990's. Recent news seems to confirm and bear those suspicions out, but if the allegations are true, and so much wrong was done for so long, many worry that those doing wrong will have found a way to wiggle out of it and go back to business as usual, therefore they do not speak. You see, Sheriff Jimmy has ruled "his" county with an iron fist for decades.

There is a lot of hope and talk that if the regime changes are permanent, those in charge will do the right thing and remove the cloak of secrecy from Lexington County's dispatch channels so that the citizens can know in real time what is going on in their neighborhoods and communities, once again.
