I passed through Lexington/Fayette Co today on I75/I64. I didn't get any signal indicator from the Lexington Co Simulcast site. I'm well aware that pretty much every talkgroup on the system is encrypted . Can anyone confirm the current active control channel frequency of that site?

I’d have to pull back up DSD but it changes quite regularly, the DB should really have every freq as a CC.

FYI your on the Louisville system thread 😉

@brian - don't know if you are still in Central Kentucky, but if you are and go thru Madison County (City of Richmond) on I75, be sure to put all of the frequencies for their county trunk system into your scanner, they also switch them around and at times "voice" channels listed in the database become "control" channels for a few days.

Update - they are currently using 852.4000 which is listed in the database as a control channel.

@DudleyG thanks for the replies. When I passed back through Lexington on Sunday, 853.5375 was the active control channel. I was able to successfully track it (but didn't hear much of interest, of course).

It's interesting that you mention Madison County. When passing through there (stopped at Buc-ee's in RIchmond) I couldn't get reception of either the North or South sites of the Madison Co TRS. I did have 852.400 programmed for the North site. I did a band search in 800MHz and found nothing. I continued to try to to locate an active CC as I drove through and never found one. I'm not sure what that issue may have been.

@brian That's interesting that you couldn't find a control channel at Buc-ee's in Richmond. According to the RR database, there is supposed to be a physical transmit/receive tower for the Madison County trunk system located at that interchange of I-75. Also at that interchange, you are only 6.5 miles south of the dispatch center which has a very tall transmitter tower located next to the building.

Currently, the system is using a frequency (851.650) that is listed in the RR database as a voice channel for the North Simulcast Site but is being used as the control channel.

Update - I just looked at a detailed Google map of that interchange and there is definitely a very large tower at the same site as the Buc-ee's - right next to the Tesla charging station which is immediately south of Buc-ee's on the same property. Maybe you were too close to the tower and thus not within the transmit beam pattern (going over your head) but you sure should have been able to receive the site just 6.5 miles north of you.

Yep, I remember seeing that tower at Buc-ee's, which prompted me to do the band search when I noted I didn't have an active control channel. Tried it with no antenna connected, and with attenuator on and off. Still no luck. Clearly a limitation on my part, but I thought it was unusual. If I pass through again sometime in the future, I'll give it another try.
