I used a Windows 10 Home computer that has all of the latest August updates from Microsoft installed and I was able to successfully update the library this morning to version 535 in my PRO-668 (officially upgraded to a WS1080) and TRX-2 scanners.

It might be helpful if those who are having problems would post their operating system and version (7, 8, 10, Home, Pro, etc.) and whether or not they have all of the latest August updates from Microsoft installed.

Just tried it for WS-1098, -1088, and even Pro-668 and -18 versions, worked fine on all four. Windows 10.

Windows 10.1, latest August update installed. I've never had a problem updating until four days ago, when neither my TRX-1 nor my WS1095 would update the library. Strange! Each radio has its own EZscan program, too.

One thing I would try is to delete ALL of the library files in the "DB" folder (but leave the totally empty folder intact) and then try re-downloading the latest 535 library update using EZ Scan. When you check for updates the library version should show as "0" after you delete everything in the "DB" folder. In Windows XP the file path is "My Documents" then "TRX-2" (or whatever model scanner you have) and you will find the "DB" folder there. The exact file path may differ slightly with different operating systems.

This may or may not be applicable to the issue at hand but if you are unable to set the computer clock time to your scanner, you may need to go through the procedure for using unsigned drivers in Windows. It has been reported (and I have experienced it myself) that after certain Microsoft updates/upgrades you have to allow unsigned drivers again even though you already did it in the past.

It didn't work, same error message.

Windows 10 here. No joy with updating the library. Same error message no matter what I do...

If you haven't done so already I would clear out your temporary internet files/internet cache for whatever browser(s) you use and also clear out the system temporary files. After that try updating the library again. If you are unsure how to clear out your temporary files you can use a program like CCleaner FREE (CCleaner - Free Download or try CCleaner Professional - Piriform) to do it for you by checking off the appropriate boxes in the program.

If that doesn't help you and you have tried the other suggestions in this thread, I would then try the "nuclear" approach of totally uninstalling EZ Scan using Add/Remove programs and then downloading and installing the latest version obtained directly from the Whistler website (https://whistlergroup.com/pages/downloads).

If you are still unable to update the library after a fresh/clean install of EZ Scan, it may be time to contact Whistler scanner support on Monday morning to see what they have to say about it.

Resolved - library update

OK I found the problem - Avast antivirus was blocking the app. I shut down Avast, uninstalled and reinstalled EZscan, then updated the library no problem. Only after the update finished did I reenable Avast.

I thought I had paused my AV but that was a different PC with a different prob. Running Win10 insider preview with AVG IS. Paused protection and all is well. I guess I need to keep a log book handy and write stuff down and not reply on my aging noggin.

You probably do not need Avast. Microsoft's Windows Defender that comes with Windows 10 is quite good. I stopped using Avast awhile back. Too many false-positives. Now I just use Defender, per Microsoft's recommendation. I also removed Malwarebytes as well.

My Avast subscription runs out in December, and I am thinking of cancelling the auto-renewal. You're right, it gives many false positives.

While off-topic for this thread I can highly recommend Kaspersky Internet Security (KIS) if you are willing to pay for an anti-virus/anti-malware product. I have been using if for MANY years and have found it to be vastly superior to other mainstream products (i.e. Norton, McAfee, etc.) and it is usually near the top of the ratings when these anti-virus products are evaluated. I VERY RARELY get any false positives. FYI you can occasionally find KIS for FREE after rebate at Newegg.com and at other websites.

If you want an excellent FREE anti-virus product, Kaspersky is now offering a FREE version for download. It does not have all of the features of their paid products but still gets excellent reviews. You can download Kaspersky Free here: https://usa.kaspersky.com/downloads/thank-you/free-antivirus-download

Malwarebytes is an excellent FREE anti-malware program that can sometimes catch things that slip by your anti-virus program (especially some adware). For that reason it may be wise to have the program on your computer and just use it to occasionally scan your computer for better peace of mind. You can download Malwarebytes here: https://www.malwarebytes.com/

Now back to our program...

I used Kaspersky for many years, but wouldn't let that software near my computers now.

I'm using Avast, too. I shut it down and now EZScan updates the library with no problem! Eureka! Thanks a million for the solution. And thanks everyone for the assistance.
