There is a system on turbo/jet type called the bleed air system. It is used for many things on the aircraft.

Not serious as the other engine(s?) can supply sufficient bleed air to run the pressurisation/aircon/deicing etc. The bleed air usually comes off the 3rd stage compressor in flight depending on the engine.

How serious depends on the type of aircraft and the weather....Modern jet engines have a low and a high pressure bleed on each engine....at climb and cruse the HP bleed will close...during decent, in icing conditions or if one bleed fails the HP will open...when your down to one bleed, you often need to begin a decent to FL250 to keep the cabin at a safe pressure altitude...even lower if your are in the ice.
